Their life through healthy eyes

Visual screening

Painless ophthalmological investigations

Controlling the progression of myopia

Dedicates pediatric eye doctors

A good vision should be maintained from childhood, by having a pediatric ophthalmology consultation at Clario

The happiness you see in your child's eyes is the fuel that drives their existence. And you, above all, want to always know that they are healthy. Your child's eyes need special attention, which Clario specialists ( pediatric ophthalmologists and pediatric optometrists) are ready to give. A pediatric ophthalmology examination is an act of preventing adult eye diseases.

Visual screening

The innocence in your child’s eyes would be the same in the face of any disease, but ideally, they would never experience that. Their eyes are sensitive and prone to change as they grow older. Some vision problems do not immediately show signs. It is recommended to take your child to a pediatric ophthalmology consultation, starting with the age of 6 months – 1 year, and to repeat the visits once every 2 years, until they reach adolescence. Screening is the best decision you can make as a parent for pediatric eye care.

Painless investigations

While they discover and explore the world around them, children can have small accidents. Something can get in their eyes, or they can have a small accident. If such situations may require emergency intervention, a trivial headache, on the other hand, can be a sign of eye disease. The lazy eye can also be noticed late and the signs of strabismus should not be ignored.

At Clario, the various ophthalmological investigations, the prescription for glasses, as well as any other stage eye-care control are performed in a friendly way, without discomfort or pain. Your child’s comfort is also important to us because we know how much it means to him/her.

Controlling the progression of myopia

Having poor distance vision, wearing glasses with increasing diopters or thick and unsightly lenses, are the effects myopia can have on your child’s vision. But there are ways in which the progression of myopia can be kept under control. If the little one complains, around the age of 6-8, of blurred vision and you notice that he/she winks to see more clearly, access as soon as possible the pediatric ophthalmology services at Clario.

Frequently asked questions about the surgery

What does visual screening mean? why is it necessary?

Screening is a medical consultation that aims to tell you if your child’s eyes are well, at some point. Vision starts to develop in the first months of life so it is very important to do a check-up as soon as possible. If all goes well, it’s a cause for joy for everyone. But it is not guaranteed that this will be the case throughout a lifetime. Periodic pediatric ophthalmology checks-ups are necessary, because while growing, the eyes change.

Undetected and untreated in time, these changes can affect your child’s long-term vision. For young children we can measure diopters with a special device – Plusoptix – located one meter from the child. The measurement is fast, accurate, non-invasive and does not involve touching the child.

We recommend this ophthalmology investigation for children between 6 months and 1 year, then every 2 years throughout childhood, even if you do not notice anything wrong with their eyes.

I noticed one of their eyes is dropping. is it serious?

The correct position of the eyes is parallel. An intermittent or permanent deviation makes the eyes not work well together. It is very important that vision in both eyes develops normally, from the first years of childhood. It is good to know that, in most cases, wearing properly prescribed glasses, following an ophthalmology check-up, helps children to align their position and their vision to be clear. For how long you need to wear your glasses  is a question only an ophthalmologist can answer, during the consultation.

My child has myopia and his/her dioptres keep increasing. what can i do?

Myopia usually develops up to the age of 18, during which time the diopters increase as the eyeball grows, which is more pronounced than it should be. There are a number of effective ways to control the growth of myopia and at Clario we have long-term programs in this regard. Please access the Myopia Progression Control section described above.
